Help us gather evidence that people across the EU care a whole lot about forests!

A few years ago, an EU law was passed to tackle global deforestation, to ensure that only deforestation-free products enter the EU, and that you are not unknowingly contributing to the destruction of nature with every coffee, chocolate or burger you buy.

But this law and many others are now at risk for dismantling, under the guise of ‘simplification’ and ‘cutting red tape for companies’.

The European Commission quietly launched a ‘Call for Evidence’, inviting companies, organisations and citizens to have their say on whether or not EU environmental laws like the EU Deforestation law should be weakened.

The evidence is clear.

Forests are our best ally against climate change as they absorb dangerous greenhouse gases.

But the EU is one of the world’s largest importers of tropical deforestation.

And if forests are destroyed, here in the EU or in the Amazon, we will have more droughts, extreme weather events and forest fires across Europe.

So it is extremely important that you show you care about forests and want to keep the EU’s environmental laws strong!

Send your message with evidence to the European Commission until 10 September 2025.

And tell your friends to do the same!

Please note that your submission will be public, in a few days, on the Commission’s website.
